An established Interior Designer, Founder Hilary ensures the design aesthetic of our developments is at the forefront of what we do, through considered space planning and seamlessly designed interiors.

OUR STORY
We broke ground in March 2020 having invested our ‘everything’ into what was now just a giant hole in the ground.
‘As lockdown stretched anxiously ahead of us we couldn’t have picked a worse time for our build’.
The ambitious project tested their capacity and resilience daily. The two year process saw the couple hone their creative thinking and problem solving.
Despite seemingly endless setbacks they are delighted with the results. The build has given them an immense sense of pride and achievement.
In fact, Hilary & Clive collaborated so successfully in self building their ambitious family home that they were inspired to form Cedar Rise. Transitioning into property development from senior roles in alternative ,but related sectors, they bring abundant appropriate skills, experience, capability and drive.

HILARY TAYLOR SPANSWICK
Hilary enjoyed a successful career in fragrance and beauty over many years and held both national roles in both sales management and as marketing director, for well known American apparel designer.
Experienced and comfortable in both corporate and design settings the construction industry presented a very different environment to master and a completely new code of attire!
CLICK SPANSWICK
Clive is an accomplished tech industry and business executive. For the last 10 years he has led the European arm for a global software business, acquiring many blue chip companies as customers and growing revenues 38% year on year.
His strong business and financial management skills led him into property management & development in 2000. He has since worked on many projects and brings a rich and diverse set of property experience into Cedar Rise.

We celebrate experience and work with the best professionals across each discipline. Architects are the authors of any successful development. Similarly, we revere excellence in building contractors, project managers, engineers, planning and cost consultants, all of whom are vital to any scheme.
DEVELOPMENT
Design has been integral to Hilary, throughout her life and career. As a qualified Interior Designer her obsession with the aesthetics of the house and home began well before her self-build project was even ‘out of the ground’.
Trends, styles and materials are extensively researched in order to, where possible, future proof developments at Cedar Rise. During her own self -build she engaged in competitive procurement to add value, utilising and expanding her network of industry professionals and artisans. Particular attention was paid to space planning, home integration, smart appliances, and AI.

DEVELOPMENTS
Cedar Rise supports existing urbanisation by adding safe and pleasant developments to already established neighbourhoods. Cedar Rise is also actively seeking ‘up and coming’ neighbourhoods to develop and to develop in.
The sweet spot is small scale conversions from light industrial and office buildings into residential using permitted development rights in North London, Middlesex, Herts and Bucks.
Opportunities for larger, higher spec individual projects, bespoke or prospected are also welcome and invited.
ENVIRONMENT
Construction in the UK produces more waste than any other industry. In 2018 of the 222 million tonnes of UK waste produced, 138 tonnes of that was construction, demolition and excavation waste (62%). By repurposing unloved, light industrial and office buildings into homes, in addition to the primary objective of supplying beautiful homes, we are proud to have minimised the impact on the environment in doing so.
